So Yah............

It's been quite a long time since I even looked at this thing, which can only mean one thing: summerbreak. After a long and annoying end to an even longer and more annoying semester it all ended. Now I'm back in Bakersfield, still looking for a job and trying to catch up on what little break I'll have before I start working 40 hour weeks. I might get a job doing stuff in LA, I might be working in Bakersfield, I will be making a movie with Rebecca (everyone be afraid), and I will hopefully have one last fun summer before graduation. Once I get a job and stop having to spend my days job hunting and whatnot, perhaps I'll update more. Don't count on it though. Anyway, I'm off to go check out some dancing.

Prelude to a Post

There once was a time where I posted just for fun and had fun things to share. Now it's a lame attempt to update the rather hectic, befrazzling details of my life. Unfortunately, this past week has just been so much worse than I expected it to be, so I will spare you the details until tomorrow. Just so you all know, I did survive and I am this close *holds up fingers* to being completely done. So until tomorrow....

So............

I was working on my project last night in the computer lab when it kept kicking me off because of lack of memory space. I had deleted everything I knew I could delete and it still was kicking me out, so I started deleting random files, cause I don't know what .sf1, .smd, .imd files are, and I've got enough of them that I figure I could spare a couple. Well it turns out that I need those .sf1 files to access my part, and since I had already emptied my trash bin, I was essentially screwed. Fortunately I went to the ISD department today and they told me they could restore my deleted files for $20. Since I had no other choice I accepted. Unfortunately, they won't reinstate the files until sometime before morning, so I don't know when I can work on this. Therefore, to pass the time, I thought, why not write in my weblog again. I can relate some of the exciting(sarcastic) events of the week along with some exciting(serious) occurrences.

I essentially got an average of 3 hours of sleep each night this past week as I prepared for the end of classes. But I got through my test Tuesday, my presentation Wednesday (another last-minute project) and my writing portfolio on Friday. The worst of my projects was the playground proposal I was working on with 3 other people. Unfortunately, Kinkos screwed up our print job, and some of my members didn't come through on parts of the project. So a project that should have been completed Thursday at around noon kept me up that night til 4am fixing unnecessary mistakes. But classes are over, and not a week too soon!

And I'm sure many of you are wondering about my concert Friday night....

Well, I was fortunate to get a 2-hour nap after getting my standard 3 hours that night and once I was done with all my reports/projects. That gave me a little more energy for the concert, which was helpful. The concert itself went really well and I was very nervous about my solo. It's one thing to do something like this in high school, but to do it surrounded by music students and faculty from a pretty well noted music program was a little nerve-racking (especially on a couple hours of sleep). But I had done it enough times that I was comfortable with the piece, and after my introduction I was fairly set.

When it was time for me to enter, I came out from behind the choir and strolled in (as a Major General would). I proceeded to do a little dance my choir director wanted me to do for the intro to my song and then sang. I got to do my own choreography and pace around the stage acting pompous and knowledgeable (indeed a foreign behavior for me) and when it was all over, I got the loudest reaction from the audience. I was very thankful that I didn't let the nerves get the best of me (which they can do at times) and very honored that people enjoyed my performance. When it was all over, our choir received a standing ovation from the entire audience (something the Chamber choir who performed before us didn't get) and was shocking to see. I got huge compliments from people, even some of the Chamber choir singers, about my solo and several people commented on how that was the best concert they had ever seen on campus!

All in all it was a wonderful concert! For those of you who missed it and would still like to see it, my father went out and bought a new camcorder just for this concert (since my brother broke the other one)! So an extra incentive for people to come visit me over the summer is to see the video of my performance. I'm also looking into getting a CD of the entire concert as well. But for those who are interested, there are means through which you can still experience the performance.

Well there's still no email from the computer people so I'll just have to wake up early tomorrow and work then. So have a good night all and for those of you who want something else, try here.
